Join Us as a Summer Camp Volunteer and Make a Difference!
About Our Camps
Our camps offer a wide variety of activities for children with Down syndrome aged 0-18 over a span of 6 to 7 weeks. Each week, our young participants engage in fun and educational activities such as:
Moo Music: Interactive music sessions for our youngest campers.
Yoga: Relaxing and mindful practices suitable for all age groups.
Mini Athletics: Energetic sports and activities that promote physical fitness.
Arts and Crafts: Creative projects that inspire and entertain.
And much more!
Children are placed into small, age and stage-appropriate groups to ensure a tailored and enriching experience. In 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting 55 children across nine different camp groups, and we’re looking forward to even more fun this year!
Volunteer Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in the success of our camps. Your responsibilities will include:
Supervising Participants: Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people participating in the summer programmes.
Creating a Positive Environment: Foster a safe and friendly atmosphere that promotes positive experiences for all participants.
Engaging with Children: Be enthusiastic and enjoy having fun. Interact positively with young people, encouraging their participation and enjoyment.
Handling Reports: Assist in the documentation of any accidents or incidents to ensure proper care and follow-up.
Activity Setup and Cleanup: Help set up and clean up all activities, maintaining a tidy and organised space.
Snack Assistance: Assist children where necessary during snack times, ensuring they are comfortable and supported.
Facilitating Participation: Provide the right amount of assistance to enable children to fully engage in activities, fostering their independence and confidence.
Commitment and Schedule
We ask our volunteers to commit to at least one group per week for a minimum of 2.5 hours. Groups will be assigned specific time slots that you will attend consistently each week for the duration of the 6-7 week program. This structure helps build strong, supportive relationships between volunteers and participants.
