We had a very productive start to the year, despite being disappointed at having to postpone reopening the doors to service users back in January 2021. We fully embraced the virtual and online world and were very pleased to be able to support over 30 families with various therapies, activities, seminars and subsidies from January to March. We have offered Music Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Handwriting without Tears, Physiotherapy, Counselling and a series of seminars ranging from Speech and Language to Toilet Training, amongst others. The virtual seminars also allowed Early Years educators, teachers, SNAs and other professionals to join in; enabling us to indirectly support even more families. It was wonderful to see some current (we won’t say old!) and new faces regularly at the various seminars. The seminars are very informal and there is no onus to turn your camera on, but we do appreciate the odd wave, even more so when someone walks past in the background!
All our families and newsletter subscribers should now have received the schedule for April to June 2021 and we hope there might be something of interest to you. We have tried to offer a variety of classes, activities, seminars and supports. You might also notice that we are recommencing face-to-face sessions in the form of individual Early Intervention sessions in the centre from the end of April. Now that schools and preschools have returned (and will hopefully stay open for the foreseeable) and the additional safety precautions we have implemented here, our Early Intervention teacher Louise and the Board of Directors believe that we can restart this programme safely after Easter. Places are limited due to timetabling and additional cleaning regimes that will now be in place, so priority will be given to those that were registered for the program in January 2021. We cannot wait to start welcoming you back.
