"Last Christmas"

Christmas is probably one of our most favourite times of the year as it's a chance to to spend time with friends and family, spreading joy all around, and reflect on the year to come. We had a busy season here at DSCNE with decorations, themed Early Intervention Groups and School Age programmes, card making and writing, songs and music, and of course a visit to Santa himself.

Thank you firstly to Activ8 Offices www.activ8energies.com for kindly extending their Santa day to DSCNE families. As our main calendar sponsor for 2024 it was really appreciated that they continued their partnership and friendship and adapted the grotto for our families to visit a well known Santa who gives each child the time and attention they need. Glenn Murphy kindly captured the special memories created and below is a sneak peak of some of the families and Centre staff meeting the main man!

Huge thanks to Norbrook Manufacturing Ltd in Monaghan who once again did a toy and food drive for the children and families that attend the centre. They were so generous and their gifts make a big difference to the families that attend DSCNE.

50 children from Early Intervention and School Age Programmes were busy designing, making and writing Christmas cards each for residents of Castleross Nursing Home, Monaghan and Castle Manor Retirement and Nursing Home, Cavan as part of the Carepack.ie initiative. We hope the 100 residents enjoyed their personalised card, many of which had lots of bright colours and glitter stickers on. Next year we hope to include residents from Louth and Meath so will need to start even earlier.

Before the year ended we had a visit from the LCA Group of Ardee Community School to give them a tour and show them exactly where their fundraising goes. We also signed up to "We're Breastfeeding Friendly Monaghan" and received free period products from Teach na nDaoine through their period poverty initiative.

Our charity calendars and gift cards were on sale at over twelve Christmas markets and fairs through the months of November and December. Thank you to the volunteers that gave up their time to help us be at so many places, and to those that purchased our products and merchandise and took part in our fundraising raffles. It is great to spread awareness about our centre and showcase models and families at their local events. There are a couple of cards and calendars remaining if you wish to purchase these from our online shop or directly from the centre in Carrickmacross: www.dscnortheast.ie/shop

To the individuals, companies and businesses who donated specifically to us at Christmas and those that held and organised fundraisers, we are so thankful for your support and generosity.

We hope all our friends, supporters and families had a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to what 2024 brings to us all!
